    Oh my word! That's great!

Now, did you have any problem with the sound delay?
You have to let me know how sales are alright? ;)

@LiquidGameworks - how are the sales on the Kindle Fire?
  • LiquidGameworksLiquidGameworks Anchorage, AKMember, Sous Chef Posts: 956
While I won't comment on specific numbers, I can confirm the Amazon marketplace is well worth the little extra effort. Monstrous is selling at a brisk pace on Amazon compared to Iphone/Ipad.

@liquidGameworks ... your games made with Gamesalad right? ... how do you publish to the amazon market place? do you have to convert your GS files or is it HTML5 ?
  • Braydon_SFXBraydon_SFX Member, Sous Chef, Bowlboy Sidekick Posts: 9,273
    @Saz_1 - well, you need Pro. :P
I just sent in my iPhone version, it looks pretty good on the Kindle Fire.
Tendrmer has a good video on how to publish on youtube.

@LiquidGameworks - better sales report then you thought?
Better then the Apple Store? :)
  • LiquidGameworksLiquidGameworks Anchorage, AKMember, Sous Chef Posts: 956
@Saz_1 Yup, made with GS. GS Pro has a publish to Android feature. This game was originally made for iOS, and I tweaked all of the camera settings in each scene to accommodate the Kindle Fire. From what tenrdrmr has said, the Kindle Fire dimensions will work well on nearly ever android device. I'll be submitting to the android mp and nook soon, (just have to fix my keystore).

@Braydon_SFX Well, while its too soon to tell what the trajectory is, I can safely say I have sold more Amazon copies in 2 days than I have for iPhone over 2 months.

lol @Braydon_SFX i am a pro member :P lol... i just wasn't aware the amazon, nook and android market places where the same thing, as in you just publish through android and then submit to each relevant market place right?
  • LiquidGameworksLiquidGameworks Anchorage, AKMember, Sous Chef Posts: 956
@ Saz_1 Yup! And from everything I've read, you need to hit the Amazon market first. Kindle owners are willing to pay up :). Also, Amazon is waiving the developer fee for the first year, so get in while its free!

really?! ... im going to look into that seems to make loads of sense considering i paid $100 for the apple account, and am not making anything really off of that.

ok i just registered figured why not,.... but i have a few quick questions if you guys don't mind, my current game supports retina display on the iphone, i haven't really thought about android too much so far but what do the screen sizes need to be? or will it auto resize and look the same as it does on the GS viewer? I don't mind resizing promotional pictures/videos & all that stuff as i have not come round to doing that for my current app anyway..i've seen some rough figures on their FAQ all my images are 72dpi ... but the lowest density they have there for binary is 120dpi

Just broke top 200! It's 190, but still, a little happy to see a little success. Way better than iOS store. Get in while its hot!

@ Saz_1 Sorry, didn't see you had made another post. If you have have a game made for retina, you're in good shape. I would make a copy of your project for Kindle Fire, since this resolution seems to work universally on android devices. I converted mine by copying my project, changing it to android, and adjust every scene's camera width/height to Kindle resolution. This is the same way I did it for iPad. Since you have retina images, it'll work just fine for the larger displays just by changing scene size.

As for promotional, I left all my images at 72 dpi, and they accepted them. Those are some wacky promotional sizes, aren't they? 290X140 for images, crazy.

Monstrous is doing well on Amazon!

Now #5 on Hot New Releases http://www.amazon.com/gp/new-releases/mobile-apps/?ref=sv_mas_2

Now # 3 on Movers and Shakers http://www.amazon.com/gp/movers-and-shakers/mobile-apps/ref=zg_bsnr_tab

The only games beating Monstrous on Movers and Shakers are the two apps that were featured on Amazon's free app a day!

@Braydon Nope, but I'm halfway there. :) Obviously, the numbers will drop off, but at least I will make back my money I spent on art. :)

    138!
    #2 on Hot New Releases!

@Saz_1 I'm just hoping for 100, since that's a list that stays browsable. I haven't done any PR for the Amazon release. Honestly, since the iOS release faltered (damn Christmas release), I didn't have high expectations for Amazon. The Amazon process was actually pretty easy, but you have o keep an eye on them. ;)

The slow march continues...Though growing slower...

And still # 2 on Hot Releases!

Hoping to break 100 before it drops off a cliff :P

Congrats on the ranking LGW... How have the sales been going?
  • LiquidGameworksLiquidGameworks Anchorage, AKMember, Sous Chef Posts: 956
And, I dropped off the list, so I'm guessing my sales will crash. It wasn't great, but came out of that with about 200 sales.

Not bad. Keep making small games, and releasing them and you'll be a millionaire.:P

    @ LiquidGameworks -
    First off - congratulations!
I realise you probably don't wish to share figures etc - but how have you found sales on Amazon as compared to Apple store?
I'm wondering if I should take the plunge to Pro to give it a go, I make a handful of sales each day on the App store right now but that $500 is a big investment for me right now.
  • LiquidGameworksLiquidGameworks Anchorage, AKMember, Sous Chef Posts: 956
    @ Digi-chain

Well, the first thing is I was featured on two lists for two days. I know that boosted those sales. When I dropped off the list (today), my sales fell off a cliff. As another user pointed out, they didn't get featured, so its not an automatic thing. If you're not featured, Amazon is awful for finding apps that are outside of the top 100 or those lists. BUt, that being said, Amazon sales are about double iOS sales.

I think it may be worth the investment if you can make excellent games, and lots of them. Monstrous is by no means an epic game, but I did have a very talented artist. I have some small releases planned soon, and we'll see if the results are the same.

As of this last update, there is no longer a GS splash page on your apps, so branding isn't an issue anymore. With that, I might hold off on going pro until you have 4-5 games on iTunes that you could port over easily. But that's just one opinion.

    Cheers LiquidG,

I have played Monstrous and very much enjoyed it and the graphical style.

Yeah, I think perhaps holding off for now may be the best approach then.
Interesting to hear that amazon sales are double IOS though! Are people finding that they sell roughly double their IOS sales as a general rule then?
