Beginner question

I have all my actors and all my sounds in my app. I now want to make it so that when the screen is touched, the actor in that scene plays a sound which stops when you go to the next scene. Please can someone help - relatively simply?

    I have another question. I have got the sound to play, but it continues to play if I go to the next scene. How do I stop that happening?

    Bit more information. The app is one for children where there are pictures. If you touch the picture it plays a sound, then you touch an arrow to go to the next scene but if the sound hasn't finished it just continues.

    When you import the sound , you need to choose "import as sound" instead of "import as music" .
    Now in your 'play sound' behavior , make sure to UNCHECK the "run to completion" , this way when you change scene , it should stop.

    You should really checkout the videos sounds like you could use a little more exposure to what and how to do things in Gamesald.

    Thanks P-O-M very grateful. Some of the sounds have actually uploaded as music. Can I change that?

    Nop, you have to import them again as a sound file ..

    They are all saved as .m4a files but some have imported as sounds and some as music? What's the best extension AlGames?

    .wav seems to have worked, but still having problems with the sound. It's like an alphabet book for my new grandson. I can get the sound for A to play but because I have unchecked 'run to completion' none of the others seem to work? The player touches the page and the sound plays, then touch the arrow to the next page (scene), touch the picture and then next sound plays. At least that's what I want to happen.

    You need to check run to completion or the sound will stop when another is triggered. Also check out http://gleesongroupmedia.com/gsguide/gsguide.html

    since the sounds sound like just the letter sound … they should be imported as sounds
    and sounds are more scene specific … music is probably what you would want for theme music through-out the game

    GS converts imported sounds to .ogg
    GS converts imported music to .m4a (my imports at from .aiff get this conversion)

    Free: Audacity is good for .ogg
    you can create … record … export
    open the m4a there and Export as Ogg Vorbis

    when you make lots of changes in your project you should save and quit GS
    then reopen your project … seems like all the data we load in GS will want to stay in memory and a quit clears the garbage out.

    Thanks for the congrats! Actually the sounds are voice recordings and animal sounds and all work fine now. I just can't get them to stop when I click onto the next scene. If I click A, then the sound plays but if I click through to the next scene, that sound continues. Any thoughts? Greeat link FryingBacon but couldn't find what I need.

    Oh and if I click on the next scene, I get the second sound playing as well!!

    Do you have "run to completion" checked on any of your sounds?

    Just checked all 26 and it's not clicked on any of them. It will play the sound on the first scene but not on any of the others now. also If the sound on the first scene is playing, I can click onto the next scene and the sound from the first one continues. :-(

    OK, have now deleted all sounds. Checked that they are all .wav files. Re loaded them. All as sound files. "run to completion" is not checked and now nothing will play!!
