A smart member (someone said @Ace ?!?!) once said , if you need to ask if its ok to do something , its probably not ok to do it (otherwise you wouldn't ask in the first place).
You can have inspiration from a game and make a some sort of "clone" and apple even might approve it , but if its too close to the original you can get into some legal troubles .
@mohammedmajdi96 … do you mean Ancient … as in 1200 AD or 2000 BC ??? then that is perfectly fine to do … some of those are most intriguing … the originalGames that are the basis for Chess for example.
if you mean from less than 50-75 years ago … then P-O-M is telling you true! if you mean an old computer game … I'll affirm: that is a no-no-no!
Like P-O-M already said . . . . . . If your Pac Man is too close to the original expect to be sued, or at the very least expect a cease and desist order and your efforts to end up in the bin.
Ouch that sux, they cannot sue u if the name is different and you have cats eating mice instead of pacman eating dots right? cos i saw this pacman lookalike game with mouse eating cheese n cats chasing it
"Ouch that sux, they cannot sue u if the name is different and you have cats eating mice instead of pacman eating dots right?"
Once you don't get too close, have too many similar game elements, but yes you are probably right that you'd be ok with cats eating mice (or something like that).
just stating the fact that most of us buys the same templates from TSB or DBA in here. Hw can we not have similar gameplay with those templates that we have right? Not just copying the games out there but within our own community here, we are using the same resources to create. So it's tough to have different "kind" of game or we shouldn't get templates at all?

You can have similar game play but each and every one of you also have the right to the artwork. So theirs nothing you can do about it.
You can make a pacman style game but you cannot call it anything resembling pacman. Actually let me rephrase that. You can do what ever the hell you want. you just better be ready for the Legal Consequences.
well all games tend to draw inspiration from others in different aspects, you wouldn't have game categories if it weren't the case... all platformers are similar to each other for example... lep just came out and its pretty much super mario with a leprechaun but they to their credit have their own artwork characters etc. ... using artistic flare is fine copying a game pixel for pixel is not!
Take one previously existing game + copy it wholesale + get a few different people on the GS forums to design some graphics, icons, logos and general artwork for free (present it as a competition, a competition with no prize) + stick these new graphics over the originals + if you are having trouble doing so get one of the guys on the GS forums to work it out for you (do not thank them, repeat, do not thank them, it will only give them ideas) + then take a piece of music from a published artist (without clearing usage) and some free sounds found on the internet . . . . . . . and you have just become . . .

Make your own game , make something new and refreshing , and don't risk yourself with getting sued by companies .
