If you're on OSX, you can test in the viewer on Android.
If you're on Windows, I suspect sacrificing a chicken, praying to the Elder Gods and maybe selling your first-born at the crossroads is the only way to get GS Creator & Viewer to see each other - I've never had it work, ever, across a variety of Windows-based PCs & various Android devices. Same goes with iOS devices...though maybe they were never intended to work with Windows GS Creator.

Thanks, I am on OSX but my phone (GS2) doesn't think that I have gamesalad open on my mac when I'm in the gamesalad viewer... I've installed android SDK but now what?

Make sure Android SDK is running in the background. I don't really do any testing from OSX to Android, so hopefully someone else on here can help you get it set up.
