well i have these stars that you collect in my game (courtesy of Tshirtbooth) that when you collect enough of them you can pass through to the next level pack, but also if you collect the star in one level and then die do you still have it or if you collect it and skip?

Make a table to save the collected stars for each level.
Then have a global attribute for the total collected stars, use this to "unlock" next level pack.

When you collide with the star you will update and save the table imediately and add 1 to and save the total collected stars attribute.

I usually make a global integer attribute. Then add 1 to this attribute for each star you collect. Set the attribute to save often. Then in each scene, have an invisible actor that loads the attribute.

It sounds convoluted but it makes sense in my head :-S

@TailGames then this could be the chance to learn how to use tables ;-)
Why not learn to use one of the greatest features in GS?

@tshirtbooth have made some videos on how to use tables, watch them and you should be ready to code....
