There is a Minimum Loading Time
Today I tested to see how long it takes a completely EMPTY GameSalad project to load on my iPad 1. It took about 6 seconds. Then I realized that's how long it takes my game, Tank to load. Does this mean that there is a minimum loading time for GameSalad games?
Here is a video of it in action.
I don't now why it goes gray for a second, must be the uploading process.
And no, I don't have scissors hands

I was using scissors to see what kinds of objects does the touch screen react to.
The video you posted appears to not only stick at the splash screen, but it also seems to force quit? Can you explain (or did you quit it)?
I have seen splash screen/load screens cause this delay. Try a build with any music/animation and actors turned off/ removed from that scene (or in your publish settings). Maybe something there is the culprit.
I have recently found that the GameSalad video that used to appear when free members published their games was 5 seconds long. Could this be why it takes so long for games to load now?
If it sat there that long before loading an image or splash screen, you'd hate it even more and Apple would likely reject it thinking it was a broken app.
I'm not seeing stalled start up times unless used on legacy iOS devices.
The iPad 1 is older tech, more importantly it is not arm7. There are many apps that launch/run slower on older devices (particularly devices that support older iOS and open GL and yes ARM7's NEON does make a huge difference). While GS has undergone updates your ipad which has remained untouched spec wise, has a lot more lawn to mow to make the yard look nice. Unfortunately iOS optimizations plus third party engine updates and older apple hardware don't always equate to improvement.
