Help with a UI system - Windows

Hey guys,

I'm trying to create a UI system for a game at present, but it's a bit beyond me at present. Can you help?

The basic principle follows that of Field Runners 2. The UI in this allows you to select weapons from a list. Once touched, they appear in a selection panel beneath it. You can take them out of the selection by touching them. If there are (say) three in the selection panel, you could (for example) click the middle one and it would be taken away and the gap would disappear as the 3rd in the selection would move into the second slot.

I have a feeling there maybe tables involved? I've tried a few ways to do this with Booleens, integers etc, but it starts to get messy and complicated. Maybe it just is?

I guess I need a way for the actors that I'm trying to place into other actors to recognise when a particular actor is already full and look to the next actor to see if that is full. Also, when taken away, all actors recognise that, that the actor has been removed and for them to move down the line to fill the gap.

It would be great to get a steer as to which way to do this. Any help much appreciated.
