If your issue is in regards to publishing, then let us know what the issue is and we should be able to help. Reverting to an older version of GS to fix publishing issues will not work, as the old publishing portal has been discontinued.
  • So I was working on a project with an older version of game salad, updated it (without thinking), started working on the project that i originally started with an older version, downgraded, went back to the old version and can't open the project, and it has to be in the older version. i need to get the project that will now only work with the newer version of gamesalad to be able to work with the older one.
  • @liquidgameworks its not publishing. im doing work for someone who needs work to be in an older version of gs and i upgraded without thinking and now he wont be able to use it since he cant upgrade to the newer version of GS since he has an older Mac. Ultimately, I need to convert the project that will currently only work on newer versions to work on older versions or need to be able to install a newer version of GS onto an older Mac (bypassing permissions)

Can you elaborate? I don't understand why it is not working :-S
  • I need to be able to open a gamesalad project that is made on a newer version to be opened on an older version of GS (currently it won't but im wondering if there's some converting method). or i need to download a newer version of GS on an older Mac by bypassing permissions

Hm.. that's a dilemma. How old is the mac? As far as I know, the only limitations GS has is to the OS, and it'll work on Lion. So, if his is computer can upgrade to Lion or Mountain Lion ($20 I believe), he should be able to use the new GS.

The problem is, even if he's able to downgrade the GS version, he won't be able to publish as well. The longterm solution, if he wants to use GS to create games, is to upgrade his OS.

I'll see if I can't dig up the thread about reverting GS versions... but it certainly isn't the ideal solution.

you could make some changes to your macs core services folder, but i would highly recommend that you dont as although it may work, it could also potentially mess up your mac
  • alright thanks guys. @liquidgameworks ill ask if he can update his OS
  • @Chakku im not gonna tell him to do something that could mess up his mac, sorry. @liquidgameworks he says he cant update his mac os, either. any other suggestions?

I'm afraid it's time to upgrade the Mac. You can buy a new Mac, or you can do this (www.macincloud.com) for cheaper.

Hope it works out for you, but unfortunately this is as far as Apple will support your Mac :(

In the post above I included the link for changing your GS file to be able to open in an older version. You can use that method to change the file. While this will allow him to open the project, it really isn't a solution, as he won't be able to publish and will be missing out on important features such as overscan.

Yes, you should be able to let him view/edit the file, but Apple won't allow older Macs to publish, and their is literally no way around that I'm afraid. However, he can finish developing on his Mac, then publish with A) new mac B) friend's mac, or C) macincloud.com but otherwise, he can't :(
  • alright thanks guys. hopefully this will work out :/
