"Failed to install" message. Can anyone help?

I am getting this message when I try to sync on my iPhone for testing. Can anyone advise me how to fix this?

    This usually happens to me in two cases:

    1. If you haven't set up your device in Xcode for development and thus you don't have the correct provisioning profiles added to the said device.

    2. If, when creating the provisioning profile, you haven't added your device to it.
