✭✭✭ DBA: Advanced Particles [SET #1]✭✭✭

Happy New Year to everyone!
Hope you all had a great time, and looking forward to a great 2013 - with your Game making!.

Before I jump into too many projects this year, I wanted to clear my decks of some outstanding projects. One of the things GameSalad is more than capable of is some pretty amazing Particle Effects, I've done some basic particle demos before available [here] - so I thought I'd do another round, this time using some more advanced techniques to really push the visual boundaries.

DBA: Advanced Particles [SET #1]
Free Advanced GameSalad Particles (Templates x 12).

Everything you see in the video below is done using GameSalad and particles. The movement of various items again is either particles or camera tricks (within GS) - no animations, no videos etc.. All GameSalad.

Most of the Particles in these templates can also be scaled and rotated easily too.

There will be future sets too, in all we expect there'll be around 50 + particle effects - still working through them, but to give you an idea there'll be:
Blood splats, Rain, Snow, Lasers, Wind, Bursts, Flares, Explosions Galore!, Ripples, Water, Fountains, Bombs, Fire, Smoke (BREATH!), Airflows, Bullets, Guns, Sparkles, Electricity, Lightning +++++ more!

This set will be available by the weekend.

Cheers
Wayne

Superb work! I've not seen anyone use particles like this yet! Crazy good! Whats performance like? Would you get better performance from say an animation or particles for some of those things?

I can imagine lots of those in the vid being used in point & click games :)

Oh and btw, you're link to 1st particle demo doesnt seem to be working.

    Cheers

This looks really great . And same particle effects provided by Particle candy. Is this because of your partnership or anything with particle candy?

Thanks everyone for the kind comments and support.
Particle Kit #1 is now available from our website - and it's FREE:

Most of the particles can be scaled to suit, just change the variables on the scene instances. Also, some of the effects use Gravity, and some can be manipulated with rotation etc. So LOTS of options.

@creativeapps: Yeah, I started a massive collection of particles a long time ago, and recently thought it'd be a good idea to 'present' some of them in the same way as Particle Candy does. The library, mechanics and particle images are all different, but achieve a similar end result in some cases.

@beefy_clyro: I tested quickly on an old iPhone 3, and was getting between 22 and 60 frames for most of the effects. Some of them are much harder on the CPU than others. Also, to help visualise some effects I've twisted and pushed the scene camera too.

Hope you enjoy, and can put the effects to some good use.

Oh, There's some very simple mechanics missing from the GameSalad Particles engine, it would be super cool if the 'new' version of GameSalad could accommodate extra parameters? We could then make the particles even better!

    Cheers

@wayneh001 and @deepblueapps.com thanks so much for this! Amazing work! Quick question are all of the materials in the particle gamesalad save files free to use?
For instance i could really use the water particle system and the graphics ( water pic, the animated fish, etc.)
Are those for us to use in our commercial games and are those images/animations royalty free? I wanted to check with you first before putting it in my game.
    Thanks so much!
