Merging Templates

Just wondering, Is there any way to merge two templates together for free? or without the use of a third party software?

I am currently making a game and found that the thumbstick controls template would help a lot in my platformer shooting game. I built the game off of the basic shoot em up template. If there is no way to merge projects for free, would there be anyway I could use/copy just the thumbsticks and create my own buttons later on? Any help is appreciated.

I would really like to have seen an answer for this post..I have that same question....the cross platformed thumbstick is awesome....problem is you can't just put it into a game you are already working on....god forbid you also need to use the UB template to make everything work...it really makes things tedious....
