Color problem

Ive looked at some threads here at the forum, but cant really fix my problem.
When I preview my game on e.g my iPad 2 the colors look waaaay more bleached than they do on my computer.
I understand that my computer screen may be a bit better then my device :) , but is there a way to fix this? Can I preview in Photoshop in any way so I can get the right colors on my device? I mean other games or images display prefect colors, so is it GS in some way?

    How are you doing your images? Also are you using the color wheel in gamesalad to change your colors? Also make sure your resolution is set to 72 for each image.

    You can preview your image in photoshop, but you can't preview the whole game in photoshop.

    Are you using RGB color profile in photoshop or illustrator ?
    If you use CMYK can have difference of colors

    I had a washed out graphics problem once with web players in some browsers. I was able to fix it by using actual .psd files as my graphics in Gamesalad.

    I'll try that and see if it works. :)

    Unfortunately that did not work either :(
    Guess I'll have to live with it....

    I was talking about, when you open up a actor. Look at the actor information on the left hand side and you will see color. I believe it's right above the preload art box. Are you using that option to change the color?

    You could always just try a crap shoot, if they look good on your screen but not on the device. Way oversaturate them on screen and see if they look any better on the device. It's random, but it would be interesting to see what happens.

    No all my images are ready before I import them to GS, tried messing around with it but it didn't turn out too well :/

    @jamie_c

    Actually I did try that before, and it looked better, but not as I wanted.

    It feels like I'm missing something :)

    Can you post a screen shot of your computer and off a device? That way we can see the difference.
  • DuesDues Member Posts: 1,159
    @mounted88

    I will try to do that

    So I took a screenshot from my iPad and sent it to my computer. And well...they look exactly the same, so I can't post them here because there won't be any difference. :)
    I guess its maybe because my Mac can display more colors then my iPad?

    Is there a way you can test it on someone else iPad? And compare that to your Mac. It might be your iPad?

    I've tried it on my iPhone 4S and its the same problem there. :(

    I'm not sure then. I'm out of suggestions. Best of luck, if you figure out let me know

    Found a picture of my problem, but it's the other way around, my ipad has the dull colors.

    Actually I like the red color on the iPad better than your computer screen :P

    Does the iPad have any settings to change the color? Maybe tint or contrast anything like that?

    Seems to be a difference with color saturation. Do you have installed some apps that have option to change this default value?
  • jamie_cjamie_c ImagineLabs.rocks Member, PRO Posts: 5,772
    maybe you need to adjust your monitors color settings, do some color calibration.

    I do to :) unfortunately it's the ipad that has the "wrong" colors in my case (this picture isn't my computer and ipad)

    @JPGamesFactory

    Not that I can think of

    @jamie_c

    Then my colors will look boring on my monitor :)

    The iPad 2 has a smaller colour gamut than a standard monitor, so colours will always look a little washed out, the hardware simply cannot show the same levels of saturation that a monitor can, but the colours shouldn't be too bad, just a little washy / undersaturated.

    If you want your colours to look as good as they do on your monitor you'll need an iPad3 and (upwards), the difference between the iPad1/2 and the iPad3 is quite pronounced when it comes to colour/saturation.

    Same deal with the iPhone4 (see image above).

    @Dues

    Yep, it's basically normal to have some colour disparity between your monitor and older iDevices, whatever you do don't try and compensate for the lack of saturation, if you do you might get things to look a little better on older devices but then you will have the opposite problem on newer devices (crushed, clipped colours).

    I'll remember that! Thanks for the advice! :)
