HTML5 Publishing

Hi All,

I am quite savvy with using GS (on mac) to create iPhone/Android games.

However, I was just asked if GS can publish to HTML5. Now on the GS website it says you can, but I am not sure what I need to select in GS on the mac so that I can start to develop for HTML5 but also publish to HTML5 (for both testing and publishing).

Can someone just elaborate a little bit on HTML5, and maybe give some pro's/con's with it (limitations etc).

Many thanks,

Rob

To publish to HTML 5 you need to choose the 'Gamesalad Arcade' as your platform.

HTML 5 publishing is limited in that you can only use a scene size of 480 x 320.

When you publish the game it will be live on the Gamesalad Arcade (http://arcade.gamesalad.com/) and from there you can copy the link and place it on your own or a 3rd party website as well.

    Hope that helps a little.

So not really HTML5 publishing then, HTML5 embedding into GS website more like :-)

Ok thanks for that, guess I won't be using GS for this project :-(

In a sense, it's still HTML 5 but you don't get access to the actual code. The link from the Arcade site is an "iframe" so it really does embed in your own page. See here:

But it sure would be great to just get a folder full of files as the final published file that you can do whatever you want with!

There would be so many more uses, I have high hopes that someday soon they will have more robust html 5 export. I could see that open up whole new markets for GS. I'd likely use it at my graphic design studio to do html 5 banners and such if I could.
