Well, here it is! I said I would do it so I did! Alright as the title says, do you want the fireworks sound you get after publishing removed?

I think there should be an option to turn it off. I might get too excited one day and need to listen to it to restore the balance of the force.

@Braydon_SFX =)) Haha yes! We need to keep the "GameSalad Force" in balance! But in all seriousness, I would be fine with that. :)

Okay, so not to bash on the works of the GS team, but I'm gonna say my take on the fireworks sound. I'm being a bit sarcastic here, but also just suggesting a revamped "publishing complete" message/experience.

It always reminded me of coming to the end of a colleague's cheesy power point presentation or a sound for acomplishing something trivial in a childrens game. Not that accomplishing a game is trivial by any means, it just that it kinda kills the atmosphere. Much like a random interruption of clown horns going off. It's also just a bit too cutesey, even if not intending too.

An option for on and off seems interesting. I think it's more about the impression that this has on users. Particularly the first time user (and those publishing frequently). Some like it, some are okay and some don't care for it for various reasons. Sounds like it may be worth looking into to improve the experience! ;)

There was one time last year I had the volume set high (at about half past midnight)...the fireworks kicked in, and I almost jumped out of my seat with shock (with my heart almost leaping out of my chest for the same reason....)

Ban the fireworks sound, ban the fireworks sound, ban the fireworks sound.....! ;-)

I actually have PTSD from the military and those sounds make me hit the ground, almost everytime. I try to turn down my sound but don't always remember :(

@gyroscope :)) YES! Many a time has that happened to me! You're working on that one nightly build you promised, you're half asleep you hit the "Sign App" button and WAMMO! FIREWORKS! It freaks me out! =))

You cant take away the accomplishment sound, that's the only sound I know that truly says I have achieved something today.
  • SolarPepperStudiosSolarPepperStudios Member Posts: 754
@capitalcarnage Well, thats why there would be an option to turn it off! Like a little slider or something!

I love how it goes off at 2:30am and I forget the volume is up and the rest of the family wakes up, lets them know im working hard, and that in 5-7 days time my game will start making me .42p once a week for a month before falling into the aether.

It shouldn't be removed outright, I mean at this point it's part of GameSalad's charm. And one hell of a surprise to anyone publishing their first game. However, the option to turn it on/off would be nice.

But even better- The GS April Fool's thread. It promised Pro users various options of sounds we could pick instead. Jokes on you guys, I totally support that.

I don't think it should be removed. Its part of GameSalad. I can't believe everyone has such an issue with a stinking sound. why is your volume so loud anyways??
  • SolarPepperStudiosSolarPepperStudios Member Posts: 754
@tenrdrmer I all I have to say about it is R.I.P headphone users. =))

When you upload your .gameproj to publish, you might want a sound like that to jolt you awake when it's done ;)

I thought removing it was mostly a joke, I quite like it! Maybe turn down the volume a tad thought :)

I always end up uploading my games late into the night, maybe 4am... TIRED... exhausted... just need to hit "next" then upload to app when: "YEAAHHAHAHHA" booom cheering at full volume. This scares the living sh*t out of me every time lol. Remove this so I don't die from a heart attack b4 i'm 19
