    Well, dont expect people to give you their ideas. Best advice I can give you. Make a game that you enjoy playing your self. Thats the best way to stay motivated.

    I like puzzle games, so I make puzzle games

    Start small if its your 1st game, lots of games never get finished because the developer dreams too big.

    Also make one which wont stretch your abilities too much and above all have fun along the way watching it grow from an idea to reality.

    When you are an indie games developer, let your 9 year old self be your boss and tell you.

    @POLYGAMe

    I imagine the heads of Microsoft will be jumping with glee at the thought of a first-timer making their next blockbuster AAA game in a 2D drag n' drop mobile game engine...but hey, if you make it I'd buy it! ;)

    @glidingasap what a curious question.
    I think most people make games because they have an idea eating at them. They don't sit in front of their computer saying what should i make? They have a passion that needs to be put on screen.
    If you're looking for trends i say don't. Make games that other people want to trend ;)
    Don't be concerned about money or how popular your game will be. Make something that inspires you. Make something that you'd want to play!
    Perhaps you should walk away from your compiter and try to get some inspiration. Watch movies, read books, etc. Think about what excites you. Be less concerned with what excites others.
    While that may seem crazy- i say its the only way to make a game. Because its going to take time and energy. If you're not invested in it then it'll be a chore to complete.
    So good luck! You'll get it eventually. :)

    But don't spend a huge budget on a trivial game nobody but you wants to play :))

    Unless money is no objection, in that case I say spend as much as you want on whatever you want. Just look at Uwe Boll, that's what he has been doing ;)
