    Audacity is a free and great software for things like that

    If you're on a Mac you can use GarageBand and purchase a good USB mic. The Blue Snowball is a great one for the money as Blue makes mostly high end mics. I use it often for stuff even though I have a studio with high end mics it performs well for voice work.

    @FryingBaconStudios
    I was just about to say GarageBand actually.
    @Yenzu
    If your Mac came with iLife (if you have a Mac, maybe you're using the Windows version of Gamesalad), then you should have GarageBand. If you don't have iLife, then GarageBand is only like $15, and trust me, it's totally worth your money, unless you're only using it to record your voice. I use GarageBand to actually make music, some actually for my Gamesalad games.

    If you are on a budget, try using your iphone with minimal noise distraction. I know it may not be the "best solution" but it will actually work. Just email the voices to yourself and import them into your game.

    Also- Audacity is a free program and is amazing for this kind of stuff (it will also create the correct file type. Sound effects need to be .ogg files).

    I use Quicktime and then Audacity to clean it up, best part they are both... FREE!!!

    ;) ;) ;) ;)

    Audacity is cool but perhaps GarageBand is easier. Reaper is awesome but has a higher leaning curve. It can be used free but has a pop up and you should pay if you like it (be a good dev ;) )
    I use this mic http://www.amazon.com/Samson-C01UCW-Studio-Cakewalk-Sonar/dp/B000PTF0E2/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1369296254&sr=8-3&keywords=Samson
    I am a singer in a band and use it to make demos. Works pretty good for the price.

    That's the same mic I use @LudwigHeijden, it's a great USB mic for the price! I once hooked it up to use in voice chat when playing Team Fortress 2 (just for a laugh) and nobody could believe how clear I sounded :))

    Did you sing a song for them? :p
  • BoomshackBarryBoomshackBarry Member Posts: 712
    Certainly not - the dreadful sound of my singing voice would have driven my team mates to abandon me :))

    @Devilanddice Yep. And by the way if you hover over the top right of your post and click the gear icon that appears you can edit your post up to 24 hours after you posted it, rather than posting again to clarify the typo ;)

    You could use GarageBand with any microphone. I even use the one that came with Guitar Hero to record music.
  • LumpAppsLumpApps Member Posts: 2,881
    A Guitar Hero mic is not a recording mic. Sorry to say. That will not do if you want to record good sound.

    Reaper is also available for windows.

    I just read GS is working on adding support for .wav files. How does .wav files compare to .ogg files? (i.e. file size, loading times, sound quality, easiness to clean up/modify sound files)
