You need to draw the animation of the movement the computer doesn't do that for you. It just runs the frames like a movie.

If you are doing the artwork yourself try something simple first like 8bit graphics. If you have a character in mind do a search online for 2d animated characters there are many website that sell character packs.

Gamesalad uses frame based animation, so like the others mentioned above you'll need to draw/create each individual frame of your animation and import those into Gamesalad.

This is really not the place to ask for people how to teach you to do animation 101. Furthermore, a visual example or instruction would be a million times better than having someone explain this in text form to you. It would simplify the process for certain.

Youtube. There are tons of youtube vids and websites with step by step instructions on how to draw, layer and animations. The art and animation is totally separate from GameSalad (as you use a different software to make your art/animation frames). Once you have your art ready to go there are various videos and the GameSalad cookbook that explain how to import your animations and how to use the animation behavior.

I'd suggest you learn to use inexpensive 2d animation software, like Spriter, and export the files as png. @jonmulcahy's youtbe suggestion is great too!

You can certainly purchase art from the marketplace, you could also pay someone to create art assets for you or like I do, you can create your own. It's up to you.
