Need Assistance with Android Game Creation and Publishing Tips - Extremely Noobish

Hi Guys,

My experience with Gamesalad has been strictly iOS, and now I am creating a game for the Android market, and just wanted to know if there are any tips. I have a few concerns, which are the following,

1. Black Bars - I've seen this crop up a few times on the forum, is there a method where overscanning can be used to stretch the camera for any Android screen type?

2. The Platforms available in the creator show Nook, and Kindle Fire, I've read that I should use Fire if publishing to the market, is this then stretched using letterbox for mobile devices, which is the cause of the black bars?

3. I will be buying devices to test, however understand that the viewer may not work with the latest version of the OS, What version of Android is the viewer compatible with?

4. Do I need a developer account to test? I was watching a video that showed creating a keystore and publishing using gamesalad. The apk required no information from the dev account, and could be dragged directly onto the device...did I miss something?

If there are any other warnings or tips that you can suggest please post a reply.

Thanks,

EI8HTHSIN.

All you need for android is a GS Pro Account. android does not have protections like Apple so be cautious about who you give a signed version of an apk to as once in the wild it can be installed on any android device and there is nothing you can do to stop it.

@FryingBaconStudios Thanks, yeah I like that fact that you don't need to go through all the provisioning stuff to create a build to test, however beta testing is not an option! Cheers!
