monetization options

I've been out for a while so please forgive me if there's already a discussion going on somewhere that answers my question.

I was curious if there was a page that gave a break down of what monetization options were available. Last I checked it was iAds and Playhaven.

Last I checked(like a year ago) playhaven was super shady, that GS would just transfer money to your account months late, and not give you any figures or explanation. Is that still the case? Has it been improved at all?

Do people find better success with playhaven over iads?

Thanks.

You can add mobclix for iOS and android to that list as well as in app purchase for iOS.

So basically the situation with playhaven is still as you described, users receive a payment from Gamesalad, with no figures or explanation.

Mobclix is a newer option which works for both iOS and Android, and lets users connect with their own mobclix account, cutting out Gamesalad as the middle man. This gives users full figures through mobclix's website. However you have to be aware that right now there are serious problems with mobclix's payments, many developers have been owed money for months with no sign or guarantee of ever being paid. You can read this thread for more info:

This is my first time using iAds and so far I'm getting decent performance. I did also use Playhaven for the first time and have no idea how were doing with that. I'm not keen on how this is accounted for but it makes a good full screen ad to supplement the iAd banner system. Haven't tried Mobclix but when IAP comes out for Android and we see some improvement with Android builds I'll be using it.

Thanks for the input guys. Sounds to me like iads is the only legit option. Hopefully GS's handling of playhaven, or mobclix will be more realiable soon.

@saladstraighshooter is there any plans to give a receipt with the playhaven payment? My biggest concern is I am partnering with an artist on one game, and doing another entirely myself. My concern is that I wouldn't know which game generated the revenue, and what I owed any partners.

    Thanks.

@SaladStraightShooter sorry if you think this subject has been beaten to death, but I really just want to know if there's anyway to tell what revenue came from what game. Sorry to have to ask you directly, but I can't find any documentation on how the process works.

iAd is reportedly moving away from their mobile advertising business and they will have all their iAd staff focus on iRadio ads.

@SaladStraightShooter Why not just go through PlayHaven. You said it yourself that GS is losing money by being the middleman. Its a win for everyone. You don't lose money, we get faster payments and accurate reporting, and playhaven keeps more of the ad money.

@SaladStraightShooter Well you could void the contract, and just do it the way you did with mobclix. It's not like they would be like - Oh no, we don't want the extra 20% you used to take off the top.

So there is an easy win. Just stop being the middle man. Just create a plugin for playhaven. I'm not saying its easy, but in the long run I think everyone will be happier. .

@SaladStraightShooter why not just reach out to them and see if they want to void the contract mutually? No lawsuits, and they get the 20%

    @SaladStraightShooter It's mutual consent.

@FryingBaconStudios GS's monetization is the only thing that irks me :). I'm in love with everything else.

@SaladStraightShooter thank you for your response. I haven't yet done a game with playhaven. Do the reports say what revenue came from which game? That's my only concern.
    I.E
    Game1: $20
    Game2:$50

Or is it just one sum all together?

    Thanks again.
  • Team6LabsTeam6Labs Member Posts: 541
@andrewm2211 I think they sum it all together into a monthly report that's delayed by 5 months. I am just now getting my January reports. So I have no clue what my ad revenue is until 5 months after the fact.
  • Team6LabsTeam6Labs Member Posts: 541
@SaladStraightShooter I apologize. From the fact that there was a 5 month delay on one report, I incorrectly assumed that a majority of reports have had 5 month delays.

Again there you go speculating and spreading false info based on assumptions. Come on dude. Geezzz.

How was i supposed to know that the payments were late. Think before you type.
