Working with player movement in a maze game

Hi, I'm working on a maze game, and am wondering about setting up movement. As it stands, the levels are setup in a PAC man-esque style maze. I have my player actor( we'll call him P1 for now) centered in between the maze walls. I have non visible actors in between P1 and maze walls to keep it centered during movement. So I'm wondering if there is a way to make it so that P1 is still centered during touch movement with out the need for the invisible actors? Sort of like a path or something. Any help on this including if the question has been answered in a different fashion (and where I could find it) would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
