Can't sign Android APK

RoksaltRoksalt Member Posts: 87
So I have been trying for hours to get this to work..

Basically I followed all the steps for the Mac Publishing as detailed in the Cookbook. Everything goes fine but when I get to the "sign APK" screen in the publisher it accepts my Keystore Password but rejects my password.. I have tried

• Creating New Keystore and just pressing "Enter" to make the password the same.
• Creating New Keystore and typing a new password
• Creating New Keystore and typing same password

I have also tried building with latest nightly build

...same result error = "Password is incorrect ..."

I read on these forums that others have had this issue so I changed to Windows and went through the process. I can publish and generate the apk fine, but when I hit "sign Apk" ... nothing happens

I thought it may be IE so I downloaded chrome and tried again... same result

So I can't publish on Mac or PC.... PLEASE HELP

BTW im using OSX 10.8.4 and Windows 8.. I have the latest GS versions on both

Hi FBS thanks for the reply. Could you please explain what you mean?

I have been going at this for 2 days now and no matter what I do I get the same errors.

I have installed Java Dev and Latest Android SDk all in the default directories and have all the zipalign and .jar etc pointing correctly on Windows version.

On the Mac version everything seems fine except I can't enter a password for the key signer.. I see others were having this issue:

    http://forums.gamesalad.com/discussion/59121/anyone-else-having-signing-issues-with-android-apps

but there isn't really a solution...

I really don;t mind if I publish via Mac or PC but I just want something to work!!

Update... So I have completely uninstalled and then re installed gamesalad, Java and adt and started again from scratch.... Same result.

I'm actually exhausted and think I'm going to quit as it's clearly not going to happen.

My only thought is to try another computer so I'm going to do that today

make sure your mac language and keyboard are set to English, then recreate the keystore.

@jonmulcahy Yeah I had already checked this.

    ***Update***
I contacted Gamesalad customer support and although they were unable to solve the problem, they did step me through the signing process using terminal and that worked.

It seemed there was nothing wrong with my keychain [as it worked perfectly when signed in terminal] so it's related to how GS is talking to the ADB on my Mac. I have tried many re-installs and even had all the files/paths checked by GS customer support and they say its correct... so the mystery continues but at least I can sign apps manually now

This is the exact same scenario I'm faced with right now... and since English is the only setting my Mac has ever been set to, looks like the only option for me is to learn how to manually sign my apk too. Bummer.
