edited August 2013 in Working with GS (Mac)
I have started working on a Custom Scene Editor, a tool that will make scene editing / creating levels easier.

• Video:

• Features I've planned to add:
- Grid √
- Snap-To-Grid √
- Multi-select √
- Change X&Y values (like in the windows creator)

I will be updating this thread as the development of the tool goes on. Let me know if you have ideas for features that could be added.

    Looking good!

    * Zooming in and out might be useful. I can't get the CTRL+mouse wheel to work.
    * Add the grey border around the scene where we can move items to keep them out of view and preferably bigger than the current one in GameSalad which is often too thin/restrictive.
    * And an easy to get to layers panel. I think a layers panel would be needed regardless as you might need to access an actor behind another.

@KevinCross Windows and Mac. But it does not yet work on Mavericks which I used in the video.

@Manto1 I don't know what Mavericks is, but the fact that you're building it for the Mac is good news as I don't have Windows!

I thought I'd ask as I noticed the tool in the video was running in Windows or at least has the Windows UI.

@Manto1 loving the zoom! How comes you can do all this on your own in a couple of days and the GameSalad team can't?!

I'd love to this then being converted into a GS project file :-)
I've got loads of Level editors for other program's, It's the converting to GS part that matters for me :-)

Sorry, but I will keep it secret (at least until I release the tool).

@LeonardDeveloper The video below demonstrates how it imports and exports GS projects.

Amazing .. Looks like DBA could have some competition for some useful apps which is great for all :)
Would be great to see an actors x and y coordinates as well when selected

Yup...keep up the good work. Gonna keep an eye on how this project progresses.

Its people like DBA and yourself that help push GameSalad forward.

Its a shame you have to even consider doing this though, as the things your working on should have been a core part of the creator from day one. But Im sure your going to make a lot of people happy with your editor if it works and is fully compatible with GS project files :)

    @Manto1

This is simply fantastic, the more I look at it the more impressive it is.

Multiple object select, live X-Y co-ordinate indicators, zoom!!, snap to grid, custom grid sizes . . . . this is all incredible !

When you've finished I would be very happy to pay for these features.

Can I ask, how long has this project taken you to get this far ?
