The big news is that Unity is now optimised for 2d games. Wowser. The Corona guys must be nervous.

That's pretty awesome. Unity is getting super robust.

The lack for proper 2d support turned me away from Unity when I was comparing Game Engines. I might give it another try now.

I think that's the same for a lot of people. When I was looking for another SDK to complement Gamesalad I considered Unity, but due to the workarounds needed to get a 2d game up and running with it I opted for Corona instead. This makes things more interesting...

I love Gamesalad, but what´s made me put my efforts in Unity for now was 3 things:
    - A lot of plugins/assets.
    - Visual scripting/0 coding needed using Playmaker
    - ADmob support

I´m working in a game that need realtime lightining , tried start the project with Gamesalad, but theres no way to achive the lightining system I need to this game.

    I´m using Unity 4.2 with Uni2d + 2dtool kit + Orthello 2d (for tiled map/tileset import) + Playmaker + NGUI

Also I love work with 3D, made a game called Tower of Evil as a test and for learning, I liked the results.

But I still tell ppl about Gamesalad for simple games.

Closing this. I'm failing to see how this is not just advertising a new unity feature...
