how to deal with violent art?

In my new game you shoot at the zombies and helicopters most part. but some times you can injury innocent civilians (some blood).
The game has pixel art, but I think it can hurt some people.
How to solve that?
Give your your oppinion.

Create two versions of deaths? One gory and one not so gory, then have in the options to turn the blood on or off

When submitting it to Apple (if its destined for Apple) tick the box that makes it 12+ or what ever the age breakdown is..

If you want to make a game that killing is wrong, you should not making at game where you shoot and kill zombies ;)

I guess if you think that killing can be bad with or without blood then take out the civilians.

There is always the option to make it comical. Look at what Raving Rabidds did with toilet plunger guns. No Rabbids are killed, they are just knocked out in comical fashion.

Change the weapons out. Shoot them with potato guns or something. Then when you hit the zombies or humans, they see stars (with stars and birds over their heads) with the addition of a comical facial expression (may not be applicable in pixel form due to scale). Then they just fade away, run away or fall down unconscious.

you can reflect to the player a civilian being hit without showing blood. Have them spin around and fade out or use a suitable indicator to show they have been hurt / stunned such as using an exclamation mark or something that suits your style.
Audio and visual perception is the key, as long as the player understands what is happening there is no need for violence or blood or blood curdling screams :)

Meh look at Grand Theft Auto. I think Glorifying Killing anything moves, Innocent or not, has proven rather successful…

Heres the thing. If it bothers you then you shouldn't be making it regardless of what others think. If it doesn't bother you. Someones still gonna bitch. you cannot make everyone happy. just make a game you enjoy and make sure you select the proper age ratings when you submit it.

    I gotta agree with @tenrdrmer

If your original intention was to have a bloody mess of a good time, don't change it up for anyone. Your description and screen shots will be enough to warn those whom don't want that type of game. You will find far more people that do want it than don't.

It's not reality and it's all in good fun and sometimes good fun requires bloody chunky carnage.

Yeah, if you intended for it to be a bit bloody, leave it that way. It's a zombie game, people go in with the expectation of some gore in those types of games.
