Success with GameSalad - My Story

Hi...

I just wanted to let any lurkers/new members know that it is totally 100% possible to make fun apps (even non-games) and make money with GameSalad... I was able to make back my initial investment in an Apple computer and the software involved in just about six months... (Selling apps during the holiday season helps!)...

I'm not making millions (or even thousands) most months... but I am pulling in a few hundred bucks pretty regularly and I am having fun making games and apps. I would never, ever had been able to do this without GameSalad... I wrote up the story of how I got started here:

I wanted to say "thanks!" to GameSalad and encourage anyone who is surfing around these forums looking to see if app development is really possible or of it's just a select few people who are doing well. I'm hoping to include monthly income reports on my creative entrepreneur/daddy blog in the coming months, so feel free to follow me or subscribe.. I may have to be a little vague about that... not sure.

Good luck!

We all have a little moan about gs now and again even if you keep it to yourself (omg i just imported an image and the bloody things crashed arrhhh lol) but without this amazing tool most of us can only dream about making apps so let's show some love.

Don't give up your day job and don't expect too much and if it happens and you become successful give ya self a pat on the back cause you earned it.

I agree, and thanks for sharing Tom!

"The few apps I’ve put in the Google Play store sell almost nothing."
Haha I love it, we're in the same boat >:D<

Hey @TomCoffee Nice post. Your story sounds similar to mine. I started developing apps around 3 years ago, haven't hired anyone to help me, and I have over 20 apps on the Apple App Store too! Some of my non-games have been more successful than some of my games as well. Also, I have a kid that's a great beta tester too, haha.

Congrats, and good luck with everything. Thanks for sharing. I wish you continued and improved success!

Read it the other night.. great little article.

Also agree on the fact little apps can make a decent ish amount of money. I've done ok with 'Contented Baby Sleep' a baby sleep app that plays various sound effects to send your baby to sleep.(waves, static, hear beats, vacuum cleaner,). It was the first thing I made with GameSalad in the first 2 weeks of using it some 3.5 years ago now whlst on paternity leave. It's made more than one of my games that took months to make. About £650 now... not bad for an app that was built just to learn how the basics of gamesalad and the publishing process to the Apple app store.

I sort of wish I'd released more smaller games/apps by now... but I'm still tempted by the bright lights of making that 'hit title' and enjoy process of making interesting games... just need to finish a few more.
