• A "trick" for avoiding having to change app name after 180 days...
Hi, as you may or may not know, you can register a game/app name well in advance of actually uploading the binary, 180 days to be precise.
But if you haven't got your binary ready within that time, you will lose your name. (Yes, you will then have to be called George. ;-) OK, I meant lose the name of the app of course… ) Except there's a little workaround I've found on the internet - a post on stack overflow.com written by someone called Sam Budda:
"Here's a dumb way to trick apple. Upload your game binary. Don't worry if its complete or not. Once upload to iTunes is successful, wait a few mins till its status changed to "Waiting for Review", then click on the "Binary" link and hit "Reject this binary". Walla! Apple will not bug you again.
Once you are ready to upload your fully completed game, click on "ready to upload binary" link and your app status will change to "waiting for binary upload" "
I'm not sure it's a dumb way or really tricking Apple but it does get around having to change the name of your app when you are finally ready to upload the binary after 180 days…. I can't see it's wrong to do… or can you?

I don't think it's breaking any rules to do that...
Good one, @tatiang and thanks for confirmation. Useful info to know now. :-)
Thanks as well, @mounted88 ; I wish I'd known this l'il trick six months or so ago when I lost one of my app names after the 180 days were up…. I guess I'll just add HD after the name when it's ready to fire next time. :-)
Edit: I'm over 1000 posts ugh guess I need less time on the forums and more coding
@Braydon_SFX You're welcome & glad you like it too, Bray. :-)
@tenrdrmer Thanks also, Aaron. :-) I didn't realise it wasn't always that way, i.e not always the 180 day restriction...
Cheers @matarua I've yet to put this into practice either but I'm about to register a name which I think will need extending in this way in a hundred and eighty days time… here I go… :-)
Ah right, so this way's better I guess, thanks. :-)
Thanks as well, @matarua, glad to know it's a watertight solution. :-)
