Clash of Clans art type???

Would this be considered 2d or 3d?

I want my art to be very similar to theirs. Will hire a designer but just need to know the right terminology. Thanks

I never played it but it looks like you'd be looking at pre-rendered 3d as isometric art.

It's a very labor intensive graphics style if thats what you want….if you hire it will cost a lot.

For clash of clans, there game is actually a 3D game, so hence the graphics are made 3d, this is because of the engine they are using, its quicker to render the images that way, of course it gives them a lot more freedom in design working on a 3d model.
However that being said, the same images could be made for a 2d game maker like gamesalad, however in most cases these images would be created in a 3d environment.
Hopefully that gives you some insight.

I think they said they use 3ds max and Photoshop to apply textures and polish the images.
