I'm new.

Hey! I'm new to this website, and the way I got here was I got an idea that (in my opinion) seems like it would be like the new flappy bird, but I wouldn't exactly make it like that. So I told my technology teacher at my school. He got a piece of paper and a pen and wrote the URL 'www.gamesalad.com' . I was so exited. I was even more exited when I went home from school and went on the family mac and found out that it was an app making website! But alas, it seems that it's a bit complicated for me to find a way to make the game  . Please give some tips for me!

Welcome! It's always nice to see new faces on these forums!

You can find literally hundreds of free video tutorials on our website: gshelper.com. We also have tons of free project files so you can pick apart the logic. Also check out DeepBlueApps.com - they have free projects, too.

    Best of luck!

It wasn't me, but glad other technology teachers are pointing you toward GameSalad... it's a powerful tool!

    There's a great tutorial here: http://forums.gamesalad.com/discussion/64220/flappy-bird-game-tutorial/p1.

Hi @flamedrop Welcome to GameSalad and the Forums. :-)

The main tip about learning GameSalad I'd give is, "don't try to run before you can walk" so before any game-making, I'd recommend you work through the Manual first:

    http://gamesalad.com/manuals

...then work through the CookBook after.

    http://cookbook.gamesalad.com

This way you'll have a great grounding in GameSalad, which will be most beneficial when you start creating your games.

There are also many video tutorials you'll find by simply googling "tutorial gamesalad" or "video gamesalad".

And finally to say, one of the Forums is dedicated to community members' tutorials:

    http://forums.gamesalad.com/categories/community-tutorials

Any questions that you can't find answers by yourself as you go, fire away here in the Forums and I or another member will try our best to help out. Good luck.

Welcome @flamedrop! You have taken your first step along a fun and creative road.

My suggestion would be to install Gamesalad, watch Youtube tutorials and play, experiment and get comfortable with the tool, before focusing on your game idea.

Trying to squeeze your idea out of a tool that you are unfamiliar with will lead to frustration.

While you play and learn Gamesalad your game idea will mature and maybe expand as you learn what is possible.

    Have fun!

@gyroscope, pffft, I need to type faster :D
