Hi all,

Some weeks ago i got a pm on this forum asking when my game would come out..
I told the person it will take some weeks maybe 2 maybe 3. But when i looked at that persons profile is saw.. nothing.
He din't have any post or anything yet and still has none.

I knew something was off. Today I checked the app store for my own game just in case, mine is not released yet.
I found a game with the same name as mine released on april 1 2014. I downloaded it and checked.

The graphics are very different and crappy, but the idea of movement is somewhat the same, the idea of avoiding objects and taking gems is also similar. You would say its aways possible every game looks the same somewhere.

Yes indeed, but having the same description tekst as mine? having the same idea and principal as mine? having the same name?
And also using game salad (you can always tell because of the loading wheel). The splash screen is exactly the same apart form a different graphic but same name with beneath it a similar looking main actor as mine.

I don't know if this is placed in the right forum section but here it is.

So people watch out!

Thanks for reading my story.
There is probably nothing i can do about so i'm just writhing this post.

What is the name of the game? Do you have a link to the ripoff on the store?

One thing to know is that these are public forums. Anything you post, whether images, descriptions, code, gameplay videos, etc. is available to everyone else who decides to visit the forums. I'm not saying what the person did was right but it may be a lesson to "hold your cards close to your chest" from now on.

@tatiang @bjandthekatz‌ Yes i noticed that and i am well aware of this.

But I'm not going to report this game at or do anything else.
The game is not similar enough to be a copy (not like what happend with red bouncing ball) but it was a shock to see this.

EDIT: I also do have the feeling my game is better in every way and gives a better user experience, this maybe is a bit arrogant but this is what i feel comparing the two games.

    That hits deep :p
I haven't tried it, but I can't see anything in the screenshots that resembles it. So it's not a clone, but a game with a similar idea?

@bjandthekatz‌ it is indeed not a clone like thousands of flappybird clones that are the same. But the idea is the same also the name, description, actor idea, movement etc..

Its more of a shock this is happening and a valuable learning lessons for me about posting about my game before it is released. The name of my game "bolly" is a dutch word that does not mean a sphere looking pac man actor and does not even exist in English. So its strange for someone from another country to use the same name for the same kind of actor.

Maybe there game could show more resemblance when the developers could actually handle illustrator :)
