Pocket Gamer - Ad Space have you already done it?

Hi Guys!
So I'm in contact with the marketing department of pocket gamer. They have different banner options over 7 days.
The suggested price span was from 175 to 450 Dollars. ( indies get them cheaper 20% roughly normal this options are higher)

What ever this overs are the lower right small banner. (175 Dollar 300""150 Pixel)
or
Third skyscraper on the side. (450 euro 300"
"600 Pixel)

Thats massive price for a poor indie boy but I also think I can make a smashing banner and gain attention.
Now I just wanted to ask before if someone of you already took one of this offers and what are the experiences?

Personally, I think banners are a waste of time. I'd rather look at using money to get some editorial done to increase exposure. This could include a review or an article about a future product

@jigglybean Thanks. I also asked a another founder he meant it's better to spend the money in CPI/CPA (cost per install/acquisition or action) Advertising.

Since you can be more pointy with your target audience and have more control over the money spend. You only pay for real result while you have with the banner version no guarantee for anything.

But on the other hand Pocket Gamer is a big player..

@BigDave Just a heads up, images aren't allowed in signatures.

    @SaladStraightShooter said:

    • Absolutely no images in your sig. They're annoying and distracting and throw off the page formatting.

    Enjoy!

Just avoid places like facebook. Despite what facebook say, they use 'click farms' so going down a cost per INSTALL is probably the best route against cost per click.

Right now, we're trying out Amazons new Advertising program and the results have been extremely poor. Limited control over your advert and you certainly get a bunch of views but the click through rate is under 5%.

I'm not sure if its because of the advert is a generic Amazon style one (using our artwork) or the target audience is wrong (which they control as well).

With so much money to be made from advertising, you just need to be wise. I am hearing good things about Google ad words
