Stock photos in games

Does anyone know more about using stock photos in games? The more I search the sites, it seems one has to pay $50 per image with an extended license just to be able to redistribute the image more than 10,000 times (+10,000 downloads = wishful thinking)

@kkoenig, yes, this is the usual pitfall that the normal fee/subscription for stock images does not cover usage in apps.

Some providers allow the use of images to the standard fee/subscription if they are not integral part of gameplay, just a background for example.

However, if the image is a character, prop, texture in a memory game card or image in a four-pictures-one-word type game, etc., then the expensive extended licence applies.

yikes at $50 per image you could have some pretty high quality custom art I would think.
