Use entire background

Hi, i know that much probably this question is really stupid, i apologize in advance, but how can i use my entire bg?? For example in super mario, you can move mario and explore all the bg, because it moves, as in the example of the cannon project, how can i make bigger my NOT scene size?? Sorry for my english i'm italian xD
