If you're willing to answer, what is the most you've made from an app?

AIMAIM Member, PRO Posts: 8

I have noticed this hasn't been asked in a while so maybe there was some new info from people about the most they've made from an app or how much they make a day in general? I don't mean to offend anyone it's just for inspiration purposes because seeing someone successful can be really motivating, and yes i know it shouldnt be your main motivation but it is one of them, so any info from people would be good :)

I haven't sold any games on the appstore, just Amazon and Google Play. My biggest sellers have been flappy bird clones both making around $6k before taxes (from launch until end of May)

My biggest seller, which is free, is on Google play and another Flappy Bird clone and thats just close to 10k downloads

The vastly huge sum of approx. $75. I ain't ashamed to say....

Hoping things will improve when I can spare the time to properly get my existing 3 apps on PRMac and send to review sites.

Then hoping that my list of over 40 games or apps to do, most only just started, none finished, will have at least one amongst them that'll appeal to a wider market.

Then hoping for a warp in the Space/Time Continuum which will make 24 hours a day seem like a week... I'd get SO much done then...

Let me know if you figure out that warp thing.

I have had a few games break the $80 mark, I am going to retire when one breaks $100.

From my formely $0.99 game I got about $50 in 1.5 years (its free now).
My latest game is free and iAd supported, its being on the app store for 2 months and it earned about 5 bucks. If curious download it here (pleeeeease):
    https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/ripple-munch/id861715001?mt=8
Most of my downloads come from marketing it on facebook, but as most of my contacts are from Peru, and iAds dont work here, those downloads are useless :(

Around $18, so after GS Pro and the app store cost I am still in the hole...

BUT LOVE BUILDING GAMES, and that is the coolest part!

I just started to learn GS in late January. From January until around March or April I was making $0. I started making $300 a month about two months ago. I had put up a bunch of apps earlier this year which really sharpened my skills in regards to uploading, testing on diff dev devices, etc. I think I've progressed a lot as far as learning how to monetize games. The games with that knowledge just came out yesterday which are my dentist games. I have more coming out this week and through out the month. I hope to have a new income update soon!

I am doing very good for a couple months now :) But i have been extremely lucky. Because of this "succes", my girlfriend wants me to teach her to make apps lol. Good to see some other guys doing good.

P.S. I still have to make my first game with GS. Can't wait to release some games.

You were making 10K/month from apps but not via any store? What did you do then?

@timolapre1998, I think he is selling in an App Store, they are just not GS games yet.

@omiwebdesign, But I am curious too, are you selling games, productivity apps or what?

You are right, I do have apps in different app stores. But i still have to finish my first game made with GameSalad ;) The apps I made are free apps and not games, "almost" all income come from ads. (I did create 1 game in C++ like 3 years ago, but without succes).

    Only a couple hundred bucks.
However, let me share with you the single postmortem post on the internet that got me interested in indie game development: http://thegamebakers.com/money-and-the-app-store-a-few-figures-that-might-help-an-indie-developer.html

You can just Google for more postmortem posts after reading through this one. GDCVault is another goldmine (stick to the free videos if you can help it).
