Does apple tell you if your app if featured?

Sorry if this is a noob question but does apple email you or notify you if your app is featured in their store or do you just have to notice it yourself....

    The spike in sales all of a sudden should be your first clue and then you can use AppAnnie.com to verify that the app is featured somewhere....as that site tracks those things within its charting mechanism.

    Unless it has changed recently, Apple usually updates the New and Noteworthy section Monday night at 12:00 midnight PST.
