Why is this simple test not working?

http://www.filedropper.com/mygreatproject

When I run it I expect to see a black screen with a pink rectangle that I can move with the Q and A buttons, but I just get a grey screen with "Initial Scene" written on it.

When I go to a site like this....all ads and a download this file and you have zero posts....I say you just go away. It's so easy to just add an image right in GS Forums. I would close you immediately.

@Thunder_Child I agree with your sentiment. However, I have empathy for someone who is brand new to the forums. Not everyone knows you can drag an image in or use the toolbar icon above each post to add images. And while those type of media sharing sites are annoying, it may have been the first site he found to use.

Anyway, to answer your question @mrpmorris, it does look like a glitch. I'm using Mac Creator so I'm not as versed at Windows Creator issues but if this is happening with all of your project files, you might check this: http://forums.gamesalad.com/discussion/59247/windows-creator-first-stop-if-you-experience-unexpected-behaviours/p1

@tatiang‌ you have a good point. For the most part I welcome newcomers. They usually say hello. It looked terribly fishy to me. Especially for anyone using a PC.

So...@mrpmorris I apologize for my course words. Good luck with GS.

The zip file only contained GameSalad files. How do I add a screenshot to my post?

    Do you see this?

I'm able to just drag and drop an image into the message body, but that button should also be an option.

I only get the Image URL part. I am using Chrome, which browser are you using?

I believe the file upload is pro only.

  • mrpmorrismrpmorris Member Posts: 5

    That would make sense (Pro-only).

Would you guys mind downloading the source files in that zip and testing that project for me please? I am trying to establish whether or not GameSalad will be suitable for teaching to a class.

Sorry if I wasn't clear about your project file initially. When I opened it and previewed it on a Mac, I saw a similar problem as the one you described. The only way I could get your project to work was to change the platform size to something different (e.g. iPhone 5).

It seems like something got corrupted in the file. I would suggest starting with a new, blank project file. Did you try the suggestions from the link I posted above?

Aha! I had some how set the scene size properties when I was intending to set the size of the bat. So I had a scene that was 16x150 pixels :)
