Still not getting that you have to upload for review at the same time as TestFlight. What if the app is passed for the store before I've finished testing? Or am I still missing something here... Anyone can answer that please?
Another question: I know i'll be able to test IAP (non-consumable) in TestFlight but is there a way (in TestFlight) to reset IAP? Or once done that's it where IAP is concerned?

Now I've got there I can answer my own question (the first one, at least). So for those wondering the same who haven't published for a while and things have changed in small ways, the uploaded .ipa file is used for Testflight, of course, and there's a submit for review button when testing has been finished. Straightforward enough.
It looks like IAP via Testflight can't be reset though. But once is enough, I guess, to prove it's working...

To round off this thread, after testing versions in TestFlight, my fourth app - Ambient Writer - is now waiting for review.

The binary was rejected because of IAP problem. Ah phooey.
Apple showed me two screenshots, the first with Please Wait on the Buy Full App button, the second showing Failed.
Surely by "buying" via TestFlight wouldn't have caused a glitch? Not sure why it should...
Back to the drawing board....
Can anyone tell me please why IAP works in TestFlight but not when tested by Apple? (I used @Armelline 's comprehensive programming for IAP)

Just to close this thread with final comments:
To confirm, Ambient Writer is finished and I'm submitting to Apple a third time, this time with my demo account password there which was causing the problem (without it). So should go through now (fingers crossed).
I'll wait till the new year though - but for those who are interested, I'll let you know when it's in the store.

I'm pleased to say that Ambient Writer has now been approved and is now in the iTunes store.
I'll be "officially" announcing it in a separate thread soon.
