My Mac suddenly just slowed down! Any Help?

Hi all I don't know if this is GS related, but my mac just suddenly hit a brick wall. It was fast for over a year, and now it is very slow. As I am writing this, half the time, I am looking at the spinning beach ball of doom. Any suggestions? I tried repairing disk permissions, and it helped for a day, but now it is slow again!

    Are you running gs when it's slow? What kind of machine is it. How much ram? What else is open?

    same here when i ran GS its getting very very slow and cant work on it at all

    When I run GS, I have to save and close GS completely, then open again to get back up to speed when it slows down.

    Yeah I always heard macs didn't need help. But, I got a third party prgram and my hard drive was dragged to he'll. A defrag helped.

    Maybe that helps.

    I am on a macbook air, 2gb ram, and it is slow always now. What programs do you guys use to defrag your mac and what else do you do to speed it up.
