We've just started offering free asset packs, called croutons, on the GameSalad Academy. These are bitesized asset packs you can use in your GameSalad games for free. They're great for experimenting and learning the tool. Enjoy!

Pass the French Onion soup. Nothing like croutons with both soup and salad. :yum:

What license are these assets under, cc0?

@Lovejoy Good question. We'll slap a license on them for completion sake. But they're free to use in any way you like.

@Socks Yeah, they're meant for free use in your GameSalad games. I'll get the license clarified shortly. :)

You could even reward viewers with free art packs after completing a tutorial or a set. It may encourage more views and reward them!

This I did not expect from the GS team. A welcome and very nice gesture though!

So we need to attribute whom in this case? Gamesalad itself, or the artist who created them?

@AlchimiaStudios Attribute GameSalad since we made the art.

  • LovejoyLovejoy Member Posts: 2,078

    @Thunder_Child

There was no license earlier that why i asked :)

Thanks for the update Mr. Wizard

@Lovejoy That's right. Your mention reminded me to put up a license. CC4 seemed right. We'll be releasing more of these as well. Free art for our customers! :)

Another fantastic plus to using GameSalad - since the switch to paid services only, GS has fixed several bugs, released multiple stable versions, created a central place for quality tutorials, and is now giving away free art.

    Unbeatable!

Thanks so much for the free art guys! I love the style of the artwork. And I definitely would love to see more UI graphics (buttons / switches / lights) in that style in the future if possible!

When you first download GS and you start it you get a welcome pop up screen that takes you to the courses. If you select the check box that says don't show again. It will not show again. If you want to see the welcome pop again => Start GS => Select View from the tool bar then select Welcome.

The other way to get to it is to select HELP then TUTORIALS from the drop down menu at the top of the GS webpage which links to

    http://learn.gamesalad.com/

    Hope this helps you ...

@CodeWizard Is it possible to offer the "Ocean Pack Crouton" in a higher solution or the original PSD, AI, SVG files? Especially the backgrounds (1024x768) are not optimal for retina devices.

Can you guys put up more croutons. I loved both of them, but maybe could you do an animals and/or characters?

  • judescrapperjudescrapper Member, BASIC Posts: 9

or maybe a pack for menu buttons

  • judescrapperjudescrapper Member, BASIC Posts: 9

    thanks

  • LovejoyLovejoy Member Posts: 2,078

@judescrapper The GS staff will upload more freebies when they have time, so unless they specifically asked for suggestions, forum rules still apply.

Read rule # 5. NO SUCH THING AS A FREE LUNCH
