Who plans on buying an Apple TV?

Hey, fellow GS Devs

I just purchased the new game pad that Apple promotes with the Apple TV and have been testing it out on the device. The game pad has smooth controls and charges rather quickly.

I was lucky enough to receive an Apple TV Dev kit and have already built some simple apps and tested them out on the device-using swift. Also I am learning Java Script . Admittedly as I learn to code I have come to appreciate all that GS does. Consequently, I hope that they support this platform as coding an app takes lines and lines of code! :)

My impressions of the new Apple TV is that it could be a nice platform for GS games in the future. The device is available this week. In light of this I wanted to ask how many of you have considered buying the New Apple TV?

i have one preparing for shipment :) I'm learning swift as well on the side, one of my many side projects. I'd love to have a game on the appleTV in the next 6 months, but based on my last game, i'd be happy with anytime in 2016 :)

Yeah @jonmulcahy my goal is to have my first Apple TV App completed 3 months from now. I am going to use the rest of this year to learn as much swift and java as possible. So far I am picking it up pretty fast as I spend several hours each day learning. :) Good luck with getting your first tvOS app out next year.

I have the previous version so I'll probably stick with that for the foreseeable future. I also have an Amazon FireTV which I actually prefer over the 'old' Apple TV.

Once they let Plex use the voice search, I'll be buying one. Until then I'm happy enough with my Fire TV.

The details are still unkown but atlas they have been working on a version for the new Apple TV. I'm sure they will take advantage of voice search. Although Sir Voice search is pretty sweet on the new Apple TV.

Plex I already have on my Fire TV. What will tip the balance is voice search integration, which Apple is currently only giving to developers they select. Last I heard, they weren't offering it to Plex.
