Why does the android splash screen get magnified immensely in the real app?

So I make a splash screen, and upload it, and in the preview box it shows how you'd think the splash screen should show. But when running on android, the image uploaded is magnified and a lot of it gets cut off. Is this meant to happen, and for what reason is that so?

I reported something like this awhile back, i think it wasn't respecting the selected orientation and just doing an overscan on the image.

I just use a blank image and have my own splash screen as a scene in game salad.

From what I've seen, it looks like it's adjusting itself. Usually what happens it will appear and be way zoomed in, then after a second corrects itself and fits itself to the screen size{if you have it tilted wrong, it will change it's orientation until the game loads, which then the game itself uses it's own orientation.

But when I take a look at other games, even non-GS games and popular games, they have quirks like this, and sometimes much worse stuff.
