Running Text (text appearing letter by letter)

bdobroesbdobroes Member, PRO Posts: 5

I'm in the middle of creating a small 8bit RPG game, and I'm wondering how to create running text (like Pokemon, Final Fantasy and Legend of Zelda).

I've searched online, but it's hard to find a choerent and helpfull answer.

Does anybody have a nice solution for how to create this type of text? =D

You can find a free template by Armelline here

That link includes a video/animation of how the finished effect looks. Are you not able to edit the downloaded file? I opened it and previewed it just fine in Mac Creator 1.25.50.

@tatiang I can open and edit it, but can't preview it (which is weird). I wish I could see the preview, so it would be easier to understand how it was made, because it's kind of hard to just try and make sense of all the modifications and rules Armelline created =)

@bdobroes Hello, i made a small demo it might help with what you want, i dont know if its the best method but it works, you can modify parts of it to fit your needs.

All you have to do is give the npc a self.npc# for example 1

and then go to row 1 on the table and type what you want in each column , then put a 0 to end the dialoug. (to go to the next line in the middle of the text just press Alt+Enter when your typing the text in the table.)

    Hope this helps
