Hi Everyone, I though I would come out of the shadows and introduce my new game that I am currently working on 'Super Blast Heroes'.

The game is an arcade platformer, I have tried to give the game a minimalistic retro vector feel.

I usually develop games more aimed at younger children but I decided to take a bit of a break for the norm with this one.

If anyone is interested in my other games, here is a link to them (all made with GS  ).

Simon

Simplistic yet looks very clean. I would use a different background, but it's just me

I like the style! Very cool.

I hope you don't mind, I took a minute to visualize a suggestion:

What if you introduced just a little more contrast by filling in some of the elements with color, rather than just outlining them? If you take a big overview of the scene, things kinda blend together and mix in less than desirable ways (in my opinion).

    Thanks jay2dx :)

@adreanaline I don't mind at all, thanks for the suggestion  .
While I do agree, filling in select objects with colour helps them stand out more, I wanted to give the game a wireframe vector look, like the old arcade games, Tempest and BattleZone but with a more modern touch.

The game is virtually finished now, Just working on the screen shots and another Video.
Here is what I have so far.

Love it. I really like the abstract design and the way the gameplay looks. I don't know why exactly but compact platformers like this are always attractive to me. Let us know once you've released it! :)

Thanks Hoodloc, I will post the Link in here once it's out

Downloaded. Don't have much time right now but I've played a few levels.
So far the gameplay feels really good, will give you more feedback and leave a review once i've played some more.

Two things I've noticed so far are that the level timer counts up 2 per second and that the view was misaligned after sending my device to sleep. Might be fixable with this workaround by @izam .

The misaligned bug is not good at all , and if you make it sleep and Wake again it move even more out of position....... not good at all if you want to look like a serious developer

Hi @Hoodloc thanks for the feedback. I have no idea how that time counter bug crept in, must of somehow came about in the final build, thanks for the spot I will fix that right now haha.

I will also checkout the workaround cheers for that.

@freneticz I agree, it seems to have been around for a while, should really have been dealt with by now.

Hey man, just commented on this over on the Touch Arcade forums, looks fun, I'll give it a go when it hits iOS

  • Glass FrogGlass Frog Member, PRO Posts: 136

@RossmanBrothersGames Thanks for that, I was getting mostly ignored over at the TA forums haha.

The iOS version should be out within the next few days, I will post a link for it once its out

    Any future android?

  • UncloudedStudioUncloudedStudio NetherlandsMember Posts: 285

@Glass Frog downloaded and rated. Gameplay is a little slow but maybe that's because I'm playing on an iPhone 4

  • Glass FrogGlass Frog Member, PRO Posts: 136

HI @UncloudedStudio yes that could be the case, I did not test the game on the older generation iPhones. Hopefully it is still playable.

    Hey! Some additional feedback! :)

Overall the game is really enjoyable. I still love the art style and the game and level design. There were two things i found a bit annoying but nothing you should worry to much about.
First the movement and action buttons are a tad bit small, when there was a lot going on I sometimes found myself missing them and dying in the process. But this might as well just be my lack of motor skills.
The other thing was that the basic physics were sometimes a little bit unpredictable. For example sometimes I just slid down corners when I thought I had a safe standing dropping right into an enemy. :s Or jumping up and touching a corner sometimes resulted in a strange second jump.

Hi @Hoodloc They are two good points, I will look into it, both should be easy enough to address.

I was also going to add some extra levels but the downloads have been quite poor up until now, so I am not too sure if it would be worth the effort sadly.
