If Gamesalad owns Rocket Engine, then it's obvious ;)

Check this link out and go to 2:44 in the video. This makes me think that it might be editing on iPad. If its true and GS and this company are related somehow I think this is probably what Masala is.

Which would be totally sweet imo

That was the big deal with RocketPack. RocketPack is browser based weather its on the mac or device. I think they even advertised you could edit from an iphone but its been a while since I watched any of their videos.

Project Masala is backwards Ala Sam
Like Ala carte or side dish of gamesalad creator on ipad. And the "Sam" part is the melt your face off Sam Kinison Scream "oh! ! ooh! oooooooohhhhhhhh !" Or ordering of needed new behaviors for non pro members.

Masala may just be a random word. Before Sega released Shenmue it went by the codename Project Berkley for years. The chief designer later said he liked the name of the famous university even though the game had no relation.

    Could be Gamesalad for pc.

That's not industry changing though. If it's just a port, that's not unusual. "Cloud Computing" is the big buzz word lately. So, the Rocket Engine stuff makes more sense. Steve seemed pretty excited about it, so what would be an industry changer or face melter?

PC is nice. It certainly would help with Textbook sales, but it's not that big of a thing to me. Windows is dying. Tablets and mobile phones are starting to erode Microsoft.

The name is probably just a word (granted an extremely delicious word) like project natal.

I hope Gamesalad eventually goes to pc. Because, most of my friends who WANT to do this, don't have a mac, nor have the money for a mac.

I hope its 3D, though I know that is a longshot. Probably more likely to be HTML5 or iOS apps with a PC.

Even if GS works for Windows, you will still need Mac to send app to the AppStore.

You are watching in the wrong direction, my friends :)

No chance in it being 3D, I don't think GS would suit 3D either, it's a fantasic 2D engine and it's going to build on those strong points instead of becoming a 3D engine.

Wasn't the quote something along the lines of "it will change the gaming industry"?

    so we can rule out

3d - been with us for years
GS for windows - nice, and brings gs to the masses, but changes the industry.....I think not
P-O-M's inspector idea - not gonna be that, as I'm sure I saw "debugger" way down the bottom of the roadmap

    The "cloud"
Building using online tools, and then submitting, and then to the app-store.......all without the creator installed on your mac. Just doing it over the web, from whatever, and wherever. THAT would be classed as industry changing.

I'm +1 on Sparky's train of thought, will be a major major update though!

Plus that would tie it in with GS Arcade 2.0 too?

Wait so wouldn't that mean you could be on any type of computer if the GS creator was on the web? I think I know what you mean. Like you don't have to install it, just go to the website and start working.

I think that would really really suck unless you could also have it on your computer as well. I work offline all the time, especially between 6 p.m. and 9 p.m. when my internet slows to the pace of a snail b/c time warner servers get overwhelmed with everyone getting on facebook and personal e-mail when they get home from work. Also, what if I want to work where I don't have an internet connection (a plane, parks, etc..) I do that all the time as well.

Well here's my theory. Keeping in mind that Project Masala will "change the gaming industry", there is only one logical possibility, as many others have already pointed out.

Using GameSalad either on the web, or on another device (iPad). Either option would be fantastic! However, both have their draw backs, and advantages. First of all, if GameSalad ditched the GS Creator tool and moved it to the Internet, then those without an Internet connection would be left out of the party. If the Creator was moved onto the iPad, then the question arrises about publishing an app for testing and distortion purposes. So, that being said, I think GS will make GameSalad Creator available in 3 places.

    1. Mac Computers - Same as now.
    2. Online
    3. iPad - Probably through an Xcode project that we would have to put on our devices to avoid Apple rejecting the app, similar to the Viewer.

This way, no matter where you are, you will be able to work on your games. As far as the publishing issue on the iPad, when you publish an app, it would go to the GS serves where, when you get back to your Mac, you would be able to download it for testing or distribution. This would, in my opinion, definitely change the gaming industry!

I personally would prefer a Downloadable for a computer. Not web based editors. Ive had some history with that sort of thing. I prefer my work to stay on my computer. Hits the WWW when I decide. Not before. Means everyones work would be floating around on a server. Not secure on your own computer. Your assets stay with you. Not filed somewhere else for use. If thats what your talking about. I hope that never happens. Just take the time to make a pc version and thats that.

You work on GS at home. If you left the house to do something then it wasnt to work on GS. If your traveling to visit someone for a week. SPend time with them. If you just have to work.. take your macbook.

Really, what TSB said would be awesome and change the gaming industry for sure (make a 200 word description and the game would be made for you.) I wish that were real.

ps: This will put a lot of pressure on companies like Corona and Unity.

I'm gonna chime in with a vote for this as well. This *IS* a Game Changer. A Face Melter.
