Yes, yes I am the big 'secret'. Simply tell me your game idea in 200 words or less, I will then build the game along with state of the art graphics, and complete GS optimization. At the completion of the game, I will send you back the project file to upload to Apple.

Could it potentially be GS language? Darren from utopian games already created his for further GS file manipulation...perhaps they'll do some sort of merge/business with "deepblueIdeas"?
@Photics - It's been hovering around number 1 for a year now, so shows exactly the type of game iOS players like, I agree there are 'better' games and I've never got huge in to AB but nobody can disagree that it is what the majority of iOS users prefer playing.

That would actually piss me off now that I have spent money on the tools and then they turn around and give them away free with Game Salad.

Many of those features should be part of GameSalad though...
Project optimization, Project Merging... it shouldn't be necessary to purchase 3rd party software to do something like this. I'm surprised that GameSalad didn't send some money to Darren and Wayne. Now that GameSalad recently had a surge of six million dollars, maybe they have the money to acquire the tools.
It could be Pro-Only features, giving developers a reason to upgrade.
How about, we just WAIT til project masala is revealed. That way we are surprised! ahha. Just kidding. I love wondering what it will be.

I totally agree they should have picked those up. but if they add them now its not going to change how pissed I am that I had to spend almost $200 to get them after game salad passed the first time around.
xyloFUN said: p.s. HTML5 has nothing to do with GS and I hope that it never will!
I'm a little with xyloFUN on this one as I am missing the benefit of HTML5 for GS. I think the only reason that there is a viable (ie: money making) app world is because Apple rejected Flash and created the app store. If we all could have accessed free flash games on websites thru the iPhone .. no-one would have bothered making the games/apps with controls specific for touch and designed best for the iphone and the public wouldn't pay for them.
HTML5 could remove the ability to receive value for your games .. sure you could publish once and be everywhere but Apple's one click purchase, no enter your credit card, know who your buying from, know where to look for apps, know its likely not to have a virus etc .. is invaluable IMO.
One is where the GameSalad Creator becomes browser based. The other is where the games become browser based.
If the latter concerns you, Pop Cap is a good example of why that's not too big of a problem. You have to use it properly though. Basically... demos are on the popcap.com website, which is basically an advertisement for the full game.
Also, some of the biggest games around are free... like FarmVille and CityVille. But with the sale of in-game currency, it makes a lot of money.
But even if GameSalad doesn't support HTML 5 games, that won't stop other developers from releasing HTML 5 games.

Some good points .. however if everything moves to HTML5 then I think the 'gig is up' for making money for most indie/part-time developers like a lot here. My kids play lots of FULL flash games on nondobbler.com and miniclip.com .. many of which are very well designed .... and they are free. I guess the website makes some ad money but I would bet the developer gets nothing (or a fraction of what the same game makes in the App store). Farmville and Cityville are not typical of the free world game environment.
I believe the only way for most people to monetize their apps will be in a shop managed by the big players .. Apple, Amazon, Google. Elsewhere it will be trying to find money from ad revenue. Therefore I hope all efforts from GS are in helping us make better games that run in the App store eco-system rather than bleeding effort/talent to bring HTML5 capabilities.

In general, I only see a small window of opportunity here.
If GameSalad does well, more people will be making games. Supply/Demand... the greater the supply, the lower the price. That's basic economics. Apps on iTunes are basically at 99¢ now. The only way lower is free.
If GameSalad does poorly, the software will no longer be supported.
The best possible chance for success is to build a name for yourself while the market is still new. Would a game like Angry Birds be as successful when smartphones become more powerful... using things like Unity3D and the unreal engine. The games are going to get better. Right now the top games are projects that could be completed by small teams. But as more and more companies realize this is where the action is, it's going to get competitive... even more competitive than now.
Meanwhile, there's Android... a huge market where they don't buy many apps.
My original goal was to build an online arcade. I think people will buy content if they see it's valuable. With HTML 5 content, it's an excellent marketing tool.
Basically, I'm setting up some hedges. In the digital gold rush, I'm a digger and a shovel maker. The HTML 5 problem is not going to go away by ignoring it.
How come nobody said “Developing custom behaviors using Lua or objective-c”
If you do that, it will be a game changer for Gamesalad. Just think of the possibilities and the market that can evolve around it. You will be able to extend Gamesalad with your own code or with behaviors that you got/bought from others.
That's not a "Face Melting" feature. That's just common sense.
...but GameSalad doesn't work that way. While it might seem natural to allow project exporting or allowing developer customization, GameSalad's mandate is making the development process easy.

So anyone think the nook color might be Project Masala? The nook has been announced to have iOS type apps like angry birds and another iOS SDK that used lua also just announced they will be able to publish to nook color and already have a few apps there like secrets of grisly manor.
Part of me likes the ideas and part of me dreads the idea of another screen resolution and prob another developer license.

It could be?
Who knows?
Would be a bit disappointing if it was. After all, it's not as exciting as other stuff suggested in this thread!

I got an email from Corona today about Nook support. I thought it was cute, but I think the Nook is just a lame iPad wannabe. If the best feature of the Nook is the ability to read in bright sunlight, I'm not that interested.
got that one too. Might be in the marketplace and showing what it might do about the time hopefully the Android export arrives. Be nice to have a solid marketplace and a tablet device on android that became popular enough to actually be worth targeting... but we shall see (and possible live in hope). If it does go though, everybody and their dog will be piling in with apps. Perhaps Nook will take a little harder approach to quality.

For most new users, publishing is a ROYAL pain and since they (GS) want to enable "everyone" to make games, publishing needs a lot of attention.
Anyway ... this is my guess
p.s. HTML5 has nothing to do with GS and I hope that it never will!

If it's simply a matter of porting an existing Android App, then I might eventually support it.
But if this is Android related, then I suspect Masala is not about the Nook. GameSalad is pretty far away from Android support.
