Gamesalad's rep
It seems that the better the app made with gamesalad, the more likely that it will NOT have GameSalad anywhere in the app, no splash, no mention.
The flip side to this, the crappier the app, the more likely GameSalad will be advertised in it, splash screen etc.
GameSalad has basically ruined their own name with the way this works. What GameSalad should do, is NOT have GS splash screens by default.
Just an opinion. Were I GS devs, this would stop, it's hurting their name.

Customizable loading icon would be a nice feature though.

I don't have any mention of GS.
I use to but I removed it.
If they didn't even mention GS they would get pretty much nothing for letting free users try out their software, unless they end up buying it. If everyone got to customize the splash, I'm not sure I would ever pay for it.

Touch Arcade was offered an exclusive preview of BOT. There were two communities waiting for more information. Yet, BOT was ignored because it was made with GameSalad. I've seen what they review on that website — BOT is a competitive app. Yet, it seems that I'm going to have to downplay the "Made with GameSalad" (at least initially) for the game to be successful.
This is GameSalads mission statement: "Our mission is to make game creation and distribution fun and accessible to everyone."
Notice the word, "EVERYONE." It goes on to say, "GameSalad’s flagship product, GameSalad Creator, enables the 99% of people who don’t like to code to visually make and publish sophisticated games for the Web, iPhone, iPad and Mac."
Sure, there are a lot of crappy games made with GS. But to someone like me, that just released (soon to be approved) crappy game, it's not about the game. It's about being published, and I can brag to my developer friends that I have a game on the App store. AND, I did it in a weeks time.
The beauty of GS is not that ANYONE can create games, but that EVERYONE can create games (think about that statement for a while, it'll set in)...
I think there will be a riot here if the basic version of GameSalad goes from free to paid, but look at how the website is set up... and look at the roadmap.
I think one of the original designs for GameSalad is that you'd basically be making free games for them. You'd publish to the GameSalad.com website. It's something like Kongregate, but GameSalad provides the development tools.
I'm not sure what GameSalad is going to do next. They might not even know for sure, as they've painted themselves into a corner. If they try to start charging for the basic version, this community will get ugly quick. Yet, how else is GameSalad going to make back the millions of dollars invested in GameSalad?
Possible strategy... the basic Mac version stays free. The PC version that makes Android games costs money. Move the software into the cloud, support all modern platforms... including game consoles, phones and tablets (as a place to make games and/or play games). Expansion is the only way to quell distention... from angry Pro developers that have their games discriminated against... and investors that want to see a return on their money... while maintaining a happy place for beginners to play.
Just curious, how did Touch Arcade know BOT was made with GS without having seen it?

Look at it this way, the Unreal engine has produced some absolute garbage games and some absolute best sellers. There are critics of the engine, but in the end the game sells itself, not the engine.
There are GS games that have proven to break the negative stigma of GS. Let the trolls troll because haters gonna hate.
...and I'm seriously considering adding more iOS game reviews to Photics.com. If Touch Arcade doesn't have time to respond to developers promptly and professionally, then clearly there's room for competition.
It's just unfortunate because TouchArcade is pretty much THE iOS site with tons of exposure and visitors.

No offense to Hurdle Turtle, but I think BOT is a much better game. I'm seeing a clear bias with Touch Arcade - they like retro games and they don't like GameSalad.
If they spent all their time reviewing bad unknown apps, that they would lose traffic because no one would care to read those reviews
There's clear excitement with BOT. There are 60,000 members in the GameSalad community and there was clear interest in an exclusive article at Touch Arcade. Sure, they want to run quality articles. I can understand that, but they didn't even look into it.
And reviewers have a bias to the types of games they like and don't like.
Welcome to Earth and the reality of things. If they had a string of bad experiences with GameSalad games in the past, OF COURSE they are going to set up a bias that they all suck and move on with their lives. It's what you would do, It's what I would do. It's what people do.
