I'm sure you could use a proxy or something to spoof your location.

Still have not managed a build yet. Hopefully they work out whatever bugs they have

Oooh interesting. Any clues on how i would start this process?

Ok i've found some good services that look like they could work, however, we don't seem to be able to setup any vpn's on the Fire! Only seem to have standard wireless!

And I still have not been able to publish, I'm beginning to think that maybe something is wrong in my configuration.

@Jon: It's not you, it's definitely a GS error, hopefully they'll fix it soon. I've got everything set up correctly, and keep getting the apk error.
  • beefy_clyrobeefy_clyro Member Posts: 5,394
I've tried to publish today and have received 1 where the server is experiencing problems and then when it can't sign the app file
  • butterbeanbutterbean Member Posts: 4,315
@Beefy: Ya I've tried several times, and no luck. Always get the failure to sign .apk, and brings me to the troubleshooting window. Both Tshirt and I have had this same error. I even tried it on another computer using Snow Leopard thinking it was the Lion OS, and still, no luck :(

I don't even get that far, it says the publishing server is experiencing errors and to try again later. I probably messed something up in generating my keystone or something.
  • butterbeanbutterbean Member Posts: 4,315
@Jon: you also could have gotten that error b/c of a server error, and GS is still trying to fix publishing...
  • jonmulcahyjonmulcahy Member, Sous Chef Posts: 10,408
Well, I think my problem is user error, just realized that when double checking all my sdk stuff, none of the sdks got installed for android, if you check the checkbox, it only auto populates the sub features if it has been expanded.

So maybe Im just an idiot., well find out when it downloads
  • butterbeanbutterbean Member Posts: 4,315
@Jon: When you were installing your Android SDK stuff, did you leave the terminal window open until it was completed? I think I remember doing that when I was first installing the Android SDK... If you shut the terminal window, it will forfeit the installation process...

Installing Android SDK does take some time, especially if you're installing versions 2-4.2...
  • jonmulcahyjonmulcahy Member, Sous Chef Posts: 10,408
I left it open, but I just hit the checkboxes without expanding them, that apparently didn't populate the sub options, it installed pretty quick the first time, should have guessed it didn't do it right :)

It's about 80% done so far.

So, by game dev standards, there's another 80% to go?

    QS :D

So Butterbean you can never get a .apk signed or unsigned done to test on your fire..correct? I was able to get several done but none work on the Kindle...either emailed or added via a usb cable. I keep getting that Parse error. So how am I able to get a completed app and you can't?

    I am so confused? :-)

Has anyone been able to do a test apk app that they have been able to run on their Kindle without the Parse Error? Are these problems indeed on the GameSalad end?

Butterbean I wonder if sent you my .apk if you could try and install it? The file is 8 mess however.

Well, I installed everything and I still get the same message. There is a chance that I'm missing something since I'm doing it remotely via logmein on my iPad, but I don't think I am.

My machine is rebooting one more time before I throw in the towel for the day.

Interesting tsb! I just wish I could install the viewer :(

@Greg: No, I've never been able to completely get a signed .apk, it always takes me to the troubleshooting window...

It does spit out the unsigned .apk, but I'm unable to install it on my device because something happened in the midst of publishing...

    Hope there's a fix soon!

After all that, the publishing server is still experiencing problems. I ran into this a few mths ago trying to build game center updates, but I eventually got it built.

With this, who knows. These are the times I miss the Xcode project we used to get.

no dice for me either, but I did manage to get an error out of the console that I forwarded over to support.

    hopefully soon! :)

Has any one looked at the small xxxxx_unsigned.apk file that is delivered instead of the signed app? It is only 4k and on inspection seems to be an error message that in my case is indicating that there is a problem with the icon file not being uploaded.

So Android publishing is not working at the moment for anyone?

Hey tsb... Just a thought... could put your music in as sound fx as the delay was less crucial... Might be a pain but would mean you could have both running....

Interesting but i can't verify that anymore! I deleted all my old builds on a cleanup this morning and constantly getting to the upload complete, receiving app ... just to get the server is experiencing problems!

Surely by now its about time for a yellow to let us know whats going on?

I agree, we should be told a bit more about whats going with Android publishing but as it's almost Thanksgiving in the U.S. I guess people are on the checkout plan.

I want to know what the issue is where the APK is available to "0 devices" on the Android Store. My app has been up there for the last 4 days and no one can download it to their device.

Also in response to Rob2's question, I still have the unsigned APK and that is 19Mb's so I thinking they must be changing things on the server.

Also update to 6.1 OS on the KindleFire...then reset (on/off) your router a few times. That did the trick for me and many others posting online at Amazon.
