    How is progress? @BlackCloakGS‌

  • BlackCloakGSBlackCloakGS Member, PRO Posts: 2,250

    Been a bit busy with 0.12 and getting ready to speak at the Captivate Conference. So, not much work this month hope to pick it back up next month.

    @blackcloakgs I read today that there are only 600 games for the fire tv, and Amazon launched a fire tv stick today which also supports games. Any chance we can get this in for .13? If we could get into this store early it would be huge.

    I just got back from the captivate conference so I can start work on finishing joystick lib. If you want this soon help contribute to the open source project or go vote for the feature in the public database.

    I am not a coder but if I can help in any other way @BlackCloakGS‌ I would like to help push this forward. Is it just lack of coding help that is holding this back? What if a support page was opened offering donations to help move this forward, would that speed it up?

    We have a massive new market with the new Amazon Fire and a big chance for Gamesalad to make a name for itself if moved on fast.

    For anybody else wanting to vote on this please vote here:

    If anybody else wishes to offer any support, please let us know.

    Right now i am doing this is my free time. Donations would not really do anything to help. Right now really the main thing that would help is coders (out side of GameSalad) helping move the lib forward or people voting on the feature request to help us know how much interest there is for the feature.

    I have swapped a vote so I had one to use and voted @BlackCloakGS‌

    How about @Armelline‌ @Manto1‌ and @DeepBlueApps‌ we all know all 3 of you contribute to the community greatly with your stand alone apps. Are you able to help this worthy cause?

    @gingagaming the thing to do is go message everyone who has posted in a kindle fire/ouya thread asking for support, as I believe this is really the only thing holding either of them back.

    But the chances are these people only want to have it integrated rather than help code it. Its a specialist request for help. One which I wish I could muck in and get my hands dirty for. Whilst their vote may count towards something, in reality I havent noticed any feature request moving forward when voted for. They just represent a view of features that are widely wanted. I think the real help will come from any hands on coders out there. But thats just my opinion.

    FYI we will start implementing feature requests next year i don't have the resources to commit to any feature request right now until windows creator is fixed. The only reason joystick support is going forward is I am doing it in my free time.

    So I have an update on the Joystick lib. I worked on it last night and work on detecting joysticks being added and removed with only c++/JNI bridge (no java code). So, i only have move support for the controls (buttons, dpad etc..) to C++/JNI bridge, add support for analog sticks and android will be done. I have not done any work on integrating this will GameSalad I will do that after I have got iOS support working. You can follow my progress here

    Any plans for ouya?

  • BlackCloakGSBlackCloakGS Member, PRO Posts: 2,250

    ouya uses the android api. So after I get android done the ouya will be supported by the library.

    No worries BC,
    The christmas season is always nutty ;-) here is a apk that might help out,

    Cheers Dude
    MB

    http://www.funnythemovie.com/apk/FireTVInputTest.apk.zip

    if you can get an app installed on your device, you can try discovering the keys to your controller with this (made for OUYA, but flexible enough for gross discovery on Amazon Fire Tv

    -- FTV code mappings
    if(onFTV) then
        codes[19]   = 'up'
        codes[20]   = 'down'
        codes[21]   = 'left'
        codes[22]   = 'right'
        codes[23]   = 'select'
        codes[4]    = 'back'
        codes[82]   = 'menu'
        codes[89]   = 'mediaRewind'
        codes[90]   = 'mediaFastForward'
        codes[85]   = 'mediaPlayPause'

    This work TEMPLATE App is used to test the inputs from Amazon Fire TV input device via remote.
